Dental Bonding

in Orlando, Florida

Dental bonding is a versatile solution to a variety of dental problems, including:

  • Chipped, cracked, and pitted tooth enamel
  • Teeth with deep or stubborn stains
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Unevenly sized or shaped teeth
  • Cavities

Dental bonding consists of using a special, tooth colored composite to quickly and effectively repair damaged or unsightly teeth, leaving a clean, natural looking repair that is virtually indistinguishable from natural tooth enamel.

Benefits of dental bonding

Dental bonding, though not as sturdy and natural looking as dental porcelain used for porcelain crowns, veneers and fillings, is a quick, versatile, and economical solution to all manner of tooth decay, tooth damage, and other cosmetic dentistry issues. Performed in a single dental visit, a dental bonding procedure is a popular option with many of our patients.

How we do dental bonding

Our dental bonding procedure is done in a single office visit.
We will first prepare your tooth. Depending on the type of work you're having done, we will remove any decay, shape the tooth, and then carefully prepare the surface so it will better bond with the composite material.

Once your tooth is prepared, we will prepare the composite to a putty-like consistency, tinted a natural looking tooth color to best match the natural color of your teeth. We will then apply the bonding material in layers, building up as necessary, to sculpt your tooth repair precisely to your specific needs. Finally, we will use a specially calibrated bright light to cure and harden your newly repaired teeth, and make any final adjustments to the size and shape with precision tools, shaping and polishing the final repair so that it blends in seamlessly and comfortably with your natural teeth.

Dental bonding and TMJ disorder

Temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMJ disorder, is a condition in which your bite becomes misaligned, causing a host of serious problems for many patients. One common cause of TMJ disorder is reconstructive dental work, including work done using dental bonding. If not expertly sculpted to the proper size, shape, and proportion to your proper bite, dental bonding can affect the structure of your Temporomandibular joint, causing misalignment that can lead to excess tooth wear, tooth loss, headaches, and other symptoms described in our TMJ Symptoms page.

As a trained and credentialed neuromuscular dentist, Dr. Castellini is familiar with these issues, and expertly sculpts every dental bonding repair to maintain and correct the proper alignment of your jaw.
