Dental Implant FAQs

Implant Dentist in Orlando, Florida

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a complete, permanent tooth replacement option, replacing both the visible part of the tooth, and the supporting structure—the root—as well.

Are dental implants right for me?

If you've lost a tooth or teeth, dental implants are the most complete, long lasting, and effective solution to complete your smile and retain the function of your teeth.

Dental implants are not right for every patient, however. To determine whether you are a candidate for dental implants, call or email us today to schedule a consultation. We'll help you sort out your options and decide what's right for you.

How are dental implants better than bridges and dentures?

Dental implants offer several improvements over bridges and dentures, including:

  • Dental implants prevent bone and tooth loss as a result of osseointegration
  • Dental implants require no modifications to adjacent teeth, as bridges do
  • Unlike dentures, dental implants are permanent, and do not require the extensive maintenance that removable dentures do

How long does the procedure take?

The dental implant procedure is a two-stage process, although it may take place over many months.

The first stage consists of implanting a titanium rod in the jaw. This is a surgical procedure, and entails a sometimes extensive healing period before you can continue to the second stage of the process.

The second stage consists of fabricating and affixing the replacement tooth, much like a porcelain crown procedure. This stage will take place over two office visits.

How long will my implants last?

Properly maintained, dental implants can last 25 years or longer.
