Your Safety in Dentistry

in Orlando, Florida

Every individual has a unique biochemistry and reacts to chemicals and minerals in different ways. Before we start any of your dental work, we will use tests to see if the dental materials we plan to use will be safe for you. This is part of our holistic dentistry approach.

Materials Compatibility Testing

The Clifford Materials Reactivity Testing (CMRT) is a screening process that produces a detailed report of your sensitivities and immune system. It can test for over 9600 brand-name products involving 90 chemical groups. It will designate each product on the list as "Suited" or "Not well suited" for your individual dental care.

These test results will guide us in choosing the best materials for your care. We may also use muscle testing (Kinesiology) to gather more information on your sensitivities. The body runs on electricity - the brain and nervous system keep our heart beating and our muscles strong and able to move.

When we are stressed by something, the body's electrical activity is disrupted to some extent. Think of a time when someone gave you some bad news - did your body momentarily pause in its normal activity? Muscle testing is a quick way of determining whether something is adverse for your body.

The Diamond line of dental materials has passed all tests so far - no patient has been sensitive to it. It is more biocompatible than gold.

Ozone For Disinfecting

Use of ozone is a top-quality way to disinfect or sanitize many things. In our dental office, we use ozone to thoroughly clean your tooth before placing any white filling it, whether it is a white composite filling or a porcelain inlay or onlay.

We also use it when removing cavitations, which are spaces left in the jawbone when a tooth was previously removed, such as a wisdom tooth. Please see Metal-Free Dentistry for more information on cavitations.

Ozone is a form of oxygen, with three oxygen atoms instead of two. It is present throughout the earth's atmosphere in varying concentrations. We hear a lot about the "ozone layer", and this refers to ozone in the upper atmosphere (stratosphere), which blocks some of the sun's ultraviolet light and protects the earth's surface. The ozone layer does not block UV rays entirely, as these are the wavelengths that create vitamin D in the body, necessary for good health.

There is also ozone in our lower atmosphere which can be harmful to the respiratory system if it is breathed in directly. However, ozone can be produced in a controlled way to disinfect, and some U.S. cities use it instead of chlorine to sanitize the water supply

By using ozone for dental disinfecting, we are not placing any potentially harmful substance in your mouth, such as chlorine. The ozone kills all parasites, such as bacteria, viruses, fungus, etc., and after a short time it reverts to normal oxygen.

Small ozonators are available for household use also. They are useful for sanitizing a bag of groceries, for example, penetrating the vegetables or meat etc. to kill all mold, fungus, viruses, bacteria, flukes or worms. They can also disinfect your drinking water and the air in your house. They produce a low concentration of ozone, but enough for safe sanitation.

Cleaning Cavitations

Have you have had any teeth extracted, such as wisdom teeth? Many people have had their wisdom teeth removed because there was inadequate space for them, or because their dentist feared there would be inadequate space. Where any tooth was extracted years ago, if the dentist was not careful to remove the periodontal ligament completely, you could have an infected hole or space in the jawbone known as a cavitation.

Dr. Weston Price is regarded as the father of holistic dentistry. He lived from 1870 to 1948 and was the first to connect dental issues with issues in the whole body. According to the studies of Dr. Price, if the extracted tooth had any filling, there is probably still some metal amalgam in the cavitation, as it was not thought so important years ago to clean it out.

In short, this cavitation is an incubation chamber for bacteria and their toxic excretions, possibly affecting the body adversely, in other locations or systemically. Infection can spread any time bacteria get in the bloodstream. Studies are now correlating gum disease (infection in the mouth) with heart problems and stroke.

The Q-1000 Soft Tissue Laser

The Q-1000 laser can be set to many modes of healing. It is a low level laser beam and is used by physical therapists, sports medicine practitioners, and rehabilitation therapists, as well as dentists. It reduces pain, inflammation, swelling, and muscle spasms, and promotes faster healing, enhancing the immune system.

We can improve both your general and dental health by properly cleaning out any cavitations you have. By using the Q-1000 laser, we can quickly and thoroughly disinfect bacteria and toxins from your cavitations, removing these sources of illness and improving your general health as well as your dental health. We do this instead of a more invasive procedure like dental surgery.

If you suffer from chronic headaches, please see our page on Migraine Headaches for how headaches can have a dental cause. Another service we offer if you are dealing with a serious diagnosis is Nutritional Counseling and a support program while you make dietary and lifestyle changes.
